          INTERCO  1969



International Code of Signals is an international system of signals and codes for use by vessels to communicate important messages regarding safety of navigation and related matters .


Signals can be sent by flag hoist ,signal lamp


Purpose – To provide ways and means of communication in situations related essentially to safety of navigation and persons especially when language difficulties arise.

 

Contents of INTERCO

Chapter 1 – Signaling Instructions

Chapter 2 – General signal code

Chapter 3 – Medical signal code

Chapter 4 – Distress and life saving signals and radiotelephone procedures

 

·         Chapter 2 has 10 sections and 10th section is table of complement ,it has 3 tables

2)      Table M-2  list of common diseases ( 1 in English and other one in latin )

3)      Table M-3  list of medicaments ( A – external use and B – internal use ) ( in English )
